Innovations in patient care and safety

Uppsala University Hospital, Akademiska sjukhuset, is one of Sweden’s leading centers of clinical excellence and research. But there are many ideas and improvements in the daily routines of current healthcare that do not make it to commercialization and widespread use. Uppsala BIO, together with partners, therefore initiated an operation that bolsters the development of ideas from the University Hospital, a typical example of Uppsala BIO’s role as a catalyst and coordinator.

In close collaboration with the Uppsala University Hospital, and ALMI Företagspartner,  an innovation support structure is today available inside the hospital that can help identify and develop promising ideas from hospital staff regarding improvements in their daily work. Ideas that can be the first step in an innovation–a new product, a new service, or a new method.

A key role for Uppsala BIO has been to integrate Innovation Akademiska with all actors in Uppsala’s innovation arena and to secure this bridging to Uppsala’s Innovation Arena.
